DGP holds darbar at Rajouri, Poonch
Need to strengthen grievance redressal mechanism’

As a part of his interaction program with Jawans and Officers, the Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda, held darbars in the twin border district of Rajouri and Poonch today. During the darbar at Rajouri, the DGP impressed upon the jawans and police officials / officers to be people friendly and respect Human Rights. He complemented the jawans posted in border district for being always in the fore front in anti militancy operations in the entire state. Exhorting upon the jawans and officers to work with more dedication and discipline, he assured that honest and dedicated police jawans/officers will be rewarded suitably. He further added that police force is being modernized and Rajouri police station will be developed into a Model Police station, besides stressing the need for a women police station for Rajouri. Emphasizing upon strengthening of grievance redressal mechanism, Khoda assured that his earnest endeavor would be welfare of the jawans , who are the backbone of the police force.
During his visit to DPL Rajouri, the DGP highly appreciated the “Common Facilities Complex” building which houses shopping complex, welfare center, CSD Canteen, fitness center, barber and tailoring shops etc. and wished that such multi-purpose complexes should have been in all the District Police Lines of J&K state.
Earlier, DIG of Police, Rajouri-Poonch Range addressed the officials and briefed the police chief about the problems faced by the police officials posted in twin border districts.
During his address DGP praised the role of police jawans and officials in containing militancy and bringing peace in the area. He told the jawans that peace had been possible only because of active involvement of police in anti-militancy operations. He said there has been tremendous improvement in the image of police but at the same time there are certain areas where further improvement is required. He stressed upon fair investigation of cases and complaints and added that police officials would be imparted training in computers, cyber crime and other scientific methods.
Later he also held a similar meeting at Dak Bungalow Poonch where public welcomed and congratulated him on his becoming the DGP.
Those who spoke on the occasion were Mir Poonchi, Farida Mir, MLC, Rajinder Singh Chairman Municipality, Narinder Singh and Pir Nissar.
While lauding the services of Khoda when he was SSP Poonch, the speakers demanded the police officers hailing from the district and posted outside should be allowed to serve in their home districts also. They also demanded enhancement of salary of the SPOS as they have already proved their worth in fighting militancy. They also demanded adequate security arrangements for Buda Amarnath Yatra commencing from August 15.
