| Bhim to file contempt petition in Apex Court | | Talwara migrants reject government offer, march to Delhi | | Early Times Reporter Jammu Aug 3 The Talwara migrants’ of Jammu region have rejected the government offer of one month’s relief in cash. Declining the offer, the migrants have impressed upon the authorities to provide relief and other benefits to the affected families as directed by the Apex Court, a handout said. In the meantime, Chairman, JKNPP Prof. Bhim Singh has urged the government to provide compensation for the rations of last 40 months to the migrants in one go, as no relief has been provided to them since March 2004. He further said that government must pay the cost of 11kg ration, kerosene oil and cattle fodder @ Rs.1500 PM to every migrant from last forty months and threatened to present contempt petition before the Supreme Court against the Chief Minister and Union Home Secretary on 6th of this for their failure in implementing the Apex Court directions. According to JKNPP handout nearly two thousand migrants from Talwara camp who started their march to the Supreme Court to seek justice and implementation of its earlier judgement were stopped by the Jammu and Kashmir Police at Ghar Baba Jitoo in Katra area. The protesting migrants have decided to sit in protest at Baba Jitoo and declared that they would continue their stir till the Apex Court directions are implemented in letter and spirit. The release further said that Prof Singh accompanied by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shudhanshu Pandey and DIG Police Udhampur visited the spot today to defuse the tension.
