| Air-India announces Rank, Bolt awards for students, teachers | | | Early times Reporter Jammu August 4, 2007 The Rank and Bolt awards, instituted by the Air-India, to recognize excellence in the field of the academics and to ignite the creative talent among the students, were announced here today. For Rank awards instituted for the students 12 districts were short listed of these only eight districts were found eligible for the award. Similarly for the Bolt awards instituted for teachers 11 districts qualified for the same. These awards were sponsored by the Kashmir Times, Aftab Daily and Mirror of Kashmir. The Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sudanshu Pandey, who was the chief guest at the prize distribution function presented awards to the winners. Appreciating the role of women, the Divisional Commissioner called upon the women folk to come forward and face the challenges of the modern society. He further said that teachers and doctors are the two most highly respected professions of the modern world as the former imparts knowledge the latter saves life. Mehnza Yaseen from Srinagar was declared Rank winner while Kiran Jeet from Jammu won the Bolt award. Among others present on the occasion were Ajit Baratake, Aircraft Engineer, Air-India, Sheela Kumar, General Manager, Air-India and Anuradha Jamwal, Chief-Editor, Kashmir Times.
