| Ugandan sent to JIC | | | Jammu | Aug 4 The police today sent the suspicious Ugandan Nationalist to Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) for further interrogation. Police, on the information from Army, arrested him today when he was moving in suspicious circumstances in the army area at Satwari. The arrest of a top soldier from Uganda by the Jammu Police reveals the wider and larger connotations of terrorism. The 42 –year former Lieutenant Colonel of Uganda Army Rashid Hassann was apprehended by the Police in suspicious circumstances and lodged him Satwari Police station for further investigation. The sources said that during the preliminary questioning the Ugandan national said that being a victim of the rebels in his home country he had come to Jammu and Kashmir to help Army in fighting insurgents. Police believes that he may have been on a reconnaissance assignment to find out the strategic locations in the border areas. Whatever the truth comes out after investigation, one thing is for sure that the ongoing battle is not an easy thing to understand. Lt Col Rashid Hassan was staying in India since past 18 months. He has visited Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Srinagar and Dehradun, before coming to Jammu. After his arrest the 42 year old lieutenant colonel was taken to Satwari Police station for interrogation, where senior army and police officials questioned him for several hours. He claimed during interrogation that he reached Jammu from Delhi by Shalimar Express and August 2 and met military police at Army Cantonment Area Satwari for a job in the Indian Army.
