| DGP inaugurates first women cell in Udhampur | | Police has to play its role in making J&K peaceful state, Khoda | | Jammu | August 4 Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda today inaugurated the women cell in Udhampur district. Several senior police officers besides large number of prominent citizens and others were present on the occasion. The first woman cell in the District will be headed by Inspector Shashi Thakur. Addressing the gathering Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone Dr S P Vaid said the establishment of women cell in the district will provide all possible help to the needy women. Later the DGP held a meeting with the district police officers, SHOs and Incharge Police Posts of the district and impressed upon them to bring greater professional efficiency in all ranks of police force so that it could play its role in making Jammu and Kashmir a peaceful state. He also laid emphasis on the welfare of retired police personnel and NoKs of those police officers who sacrificed their lives for the cause of nation and fighting militancy in the state. The DGP made it emphatically clear to the police force to ensure that civilians are not harassed while carrying out anti militancy operations in the militancy infested areas and the grievances of the public should be addressed to with open heart. The DGP also visited the District Police Lines and inspected Martyrs Galley and also held a darbar with police officers and jawans
