| Vigilance Challans Dead Man In Court | | Probing agency's new chapter of war against corruption | | Jammu, Aug 4: The war against corruption launched by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has many connotations. But this one was not known to many. The investigation agencies probing the cases of corruption and misuse of official authority against the public men are out to show their efficiency in all possible manners that even the dead men are being dragged into the investigations. Perhaps for the in the first time of criminal history that an investigation agency has presented challan in the Court of law against a person who is dead, according to the challan during investigation. This significant that challan has been presented by the Vigilance Organisation Jammu today in the Court Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu against one S Moti Singh who was Assistant Commissioner Revenue and was prematurely retired has amassed assets disproportionate to his known source of income to the tune of Rs 885,000. Earlier the VOJ presented final report in the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption has not proved by the Court did not agreed and directed further investigation in the case to make up the deficiency in the evidence. VOJ started reinvestigation of the case record seized in the case and statements of the witnesses recorded. It was revealed that S Moti Singh had joined Revenue Dept on October 8, 1973 as Naib-Tehsildar and was promoted to the rank of Tehsildar in March 1983 and to the rank of AC Revenue in 1994, during his service period he remained posted at lucrative places like JDA, Relief Commissioner and retired pre-maturely as AC Revenue. The record collected from various quarters and seized in the case to establish the assets owned and expenditure incurred by the accused from every source of known income has been found to be in possessed disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 8.85 laces and presented the challan in the Court Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu. Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Mr. Kartar Singh directed the VOJ to lead the evidence on next date of hearing.
