| VOJ presents challan against deceased for disproportionate assets | | | JAMMU, AUGUST-04- It is for the first time of criminal history that Investigating Agency has presented challan in the Court of law against a deceased person for possessing disproportionate assets. This significant challan has been presented by the VOJ today in the Court Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu against S Moti Singh who was Assistant Commissioner Revenue and was prematurely retired has amassed assets disproportionate to his known source of income to the tune of Rs 8.85 lakhs. Earlier the VOJ presented final report in the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption. Noticing some deficiency in the report the Court had directed for further investigation in the case. During the reinvestigation the VO seized some records and recorded statements of the witnesses. It was revealed that S Moti Singh joined Revenue Dept on October 8, 1973 as Naib Tehsildar and was promoted to the rank of Tehsildar in March 1983 and to the rank of AC Revenue in 1994, during his service period he remained posted at lucrative places like JDA, Relief Commissioner and retired pre-maturely as AC Revenue. The record collected from various quarters and seized in the case to establish the assets owned and expenditure incurred by the accused from every source of known income has been found to the tune of Rs 8.85 lakhs disproportionate to the known source of income and accordingly presented the challan in the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu. Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Mr. Kartar Singh directed the VOJ to lead the evidence on next date of hearing.
