| 9 pedestrians injured in grenade blast | | | Srinagar, August 5 Nine pedestrians were injured when a grenade lobbed by unidentified militants at an army vehicle missed the target and exploded on the road in Awantipora area, about 36 kilometers from here. In a separate incident militants lobbed a hand grenade towards a CRPF post, which however, exploded without causing any damage. Official sources told News Agency of Kashmir that unidentified militants tossed a hand grenade towards a passing army vehicle in main chowk, Awantipora this morning. The grenade, sources said, missed the target and exploded on the road. Nine civilians were wounded in the blast, who were rushed to hospital by police and locals. Five of the injured persons were shifted to SMHS hospital Srinagar for specialised treatment, sources added. The injured have been identified as Sheeraz Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Ahmad of Beighpora, Javid Ahmad Bhat son of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat of Lethpora, Ashiq Hussain Rather son of Ghulam Nabi of Pastuna-Tral, Ghulam Hassan Sheikh son in law of Ramzan of Chursoo, Manzoor Ahmad (Bakerwal) son of Maqsood of Kathua, Jammu presently at Noorpora-Tral, Ali Mohd Wani son Bahadur of Padgampora, Ghulam Muhammad Bhat son Reshi Bhat of Padgampora, Ghulam Rasool Bhat son of Sultan Bhat of Padgampora and Ghulam Mohiudin Sheikh son of Sultan of Takya Bagh Madoora-Tral. Meanwhile, some unidentified militant hurled a grenade towards sentry post of 'coy' camp of CRPF 179 Bn at Mohalla Sheikh Sahib, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Sopore, Baramulla. The grenade, however, exploded in the air without causing any harm
