| Hundreds of PRCs pending for disposal in RS Pura | | ‘Baboos’ unmindful of people’s problems, busy is gossiping’, people allege | | Ajay meenia Jammu | Aug 5 The slogan of restoration of work culture and bringing transparency in government offices seems to be just on papers. The fact can be verified from the swelling number of cases pending in various government departments especially the State Subject Certificates. The people had heaved a sigh a relief when the Chief Minister ordered restoration of work culture, transparency and quick disposal of cases by the government officials. But regrettably all these pronouncements have remained just as slogans and nothing more. It is not understood why the officers are so callous and do not share their responsibilities towards the general public, every body asks. There must be some reason behind it. May be they must be taking Chief Minister’s directives casually and do not bother to implement these, the people ask and call for proper monitoring the working of each officer and official if not regularly at least periodically. The disposal of cases should be time barred and if any body found deliberately delaying disposal, he needs to be shown the door, the people demand. It is shocking that hundreds of people frequently visit Tehsil office RS Pura to inquire about the disposal of their pending cases but of no avail. Hundreds of State Subject certificates are pending disposal for the last few years, the sources added. The way these cases are being disposed off it may take over a decade to clear the backlog. The growing red- tapism and nepotism is so deep rooted that only a’ Maissah’ can help to check it. Though the people have been making regular visits to government offices to follow their pending cases but there is hardly any body to listen or guide them properly forcing them to leave dejected. They curse the administration for its callous attitude and call for stringent action against those who are deliberately sleeping over the cases. They need to be made answerable at every level, the people feel. Shamsher Singh, Darshana Devi, Samitri Devi while talking to EARLT TIMIES narrated their tale of vows. They been visiting the tehsil office on every alternate day to get their category certificates but return empty hands as most of the ‘Baboos’( staff) always remain busy in gossiping and have little time to listen their problems or dispose off their cases, they alleged.. How long this situation will continue, they ask? The delay in getting the category certificate has debarred most of the candidates seeking admission or employment on category basis, they added..
