| Lowest number of 487 pilgrims leave for Amarnath | | | JAMMU: A batch of 487 pilgrims, the least number this year, left for the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas on Sunday.
The batch, comprising 188 men, 43 women and 250 sadhus, left from the base camp of MAM stadium this morning under tight security, officials said.
"The yatra has entered its 36th day today. The lowest batch of 487 pilgrims today left for Amarnath shrine," official sources said.
The pilgrims left in 11 buses and a light motor vehicles from here around 0505 hours and had crossed Ramsoo on Jammu-Srinagar national highway, they said adding the yatris would be reaching the Baltal camp and Nunwan in Pahalgam by this evening.
The 27th batch of 595 persons is the second lowest number of pilgrims who left for Amarnath on July 29.
After a night's halt at the base camps in the valley, they would start trekking towards the shrine tomorrow.
With the day's batch, a total of 50,549 yatris have left from here for the cave shrine since the commencement of yatra on July two.
