| Harsh Dev expresses concern on deficiency of teachers | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 5 Harsh Dev Singh Former Minister and Leader of Panthers Legislature Party has expressed grave concern over the acute deficiency of teaching staff in various educational institutions of the state particularly in the remote and far-flung areas which has paralyzed the normal functioning and adversely affected the academic activity in the state institutions. In a statement he regretted that more that 14000 posts of teaching staff are lying vacant in various Government educational institutions with the department sleeping over the matter. Harsh Dev Singh further called upon the Government. to fulfill the demands of RETs and Education Volunteers and urged for conversion of Education Guarantee Centers (EGCs) into regular primary schools in consonance with the Government of India guidelines. Harsh Dev Singh reminded the Government of the decisions taken in the various District Development Boards during the previous year regarding upgradation of Schools and regretted that no decision of any of the District Boards had been honoured in this regard. Flaying the culpable negligence and unpardonable red-tape on the part of Government Harsh Dev Singh cautioned the Chief Minister to assert and abdicate before it was too late. Drawing the attention of the Chief Minister towards non-performance and irregularities being committed in sectors like Rural Development, R&B, PHE, Power, Health etc. Singh called for removal of deadwood from administration and replacement of incompetent Ministers in the interest of public good. He further advised the Chief Minister to give a though to his suggestion of dissolution of Assembly and holding of fresh polls.
