| Sahnawaz appeals for protection of non-Kashmiri labourers | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 5 Shahnawaz Hussain, former Union Minister and convenor of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) minority cell, has appealed Kashmiris to protect thousands of non-locals working for development of Jammu and Kashmir and now under threat from militants. Addressing media persons here today Shahnawaz Hussain said that thousands of non-locals are presently working here for the development of Kashmir. He sought people’s protection for thousands of non-locals engaged as masons, carpenters, electrician, barbers and several others engaged in different trades. Asked what steps the BJP had taken to protect hundreds of Kashmiri youth and businessmen working outside the state who were facing harassment from different quarters, Hussain said his party stood for the protection of all Kashmiris engaged in businesses or persuing their studies in other parts of the country. He further said that there will be no reaction in other parts of the country on the migration of non-Kashmiri labourers and criticized the statement of Geelani on the migration. He also appealed to the government to take immediate measures to provide security to these labourers as there are many projects like railway, airport and other mega projects in Kashmir. He was accompanied by M.P. Sukhdev Paswan, B.P Sharavan Singh, Dr. Nirmal Singh, former state president BJP and others.
