The 53rd Mir Panchari Kesari Dangal is being held at Sankari Devta 71 kms from here on August 18. The dangal part of the three day Sankari Mela is being organized by Mir Dangal Committee in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Indian Style Wrestling Association.
The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Shiv Kumar Sharma Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India who is also the President J&K Wrestling Association.
Sharma said that 50-55 wrestler from different areas including Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua, Rajouri, Ramnagar, Pouni-Domail, Panchari,Reasi, Dev Damnote, Khor Gali, Sujan Dhar,Badota,Gilote,Kainth Gali, Nali Nika and Tote are likely to participate in the Dangal. The prominent wresters include Anil Kumar, Allah Mai, Roshan Lal, Mohammed Akram, K PSingh, Suneet Singh and several others.
Sharma said holding of such events in the state would send a message of love, peace and brotherhood to the entire country besides help to promote rural and traditional sports. He said that for the successful conduct of this tournament, the District Development Commissioner has sanctioned a grant of Rs,10,000 .
