| Goswami reviews functioning of Information Deptt | | |
Srinagar, August 06 - Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Anil Goswami who is also holding the charge of Information Department today reviewed the functioning of the department at a meeting of departmental officers here today.
Among others Director Information Mr. Zaffar Ahmad, Joint Director Information, Kashmir Mr. Khursheed Ahmad Geelani, Chief Accounts Officer and Financial Advisor Mr. Mohammad Yousuf Wani, Deputy Director Press and Public Relations Mr. Fida Ali, various Assistant Directors, Films and Photo officers, District Information Officers, Field Publicity, Press and Cultural Officers and Editors participated in the meeting.
The macro and micro level functioning of the department came up for discussion and important decisions were taken for further streamlining the functioning and making the working condition palatable.
Addressing the meeting Principal Secretary highlighted the importance of the department in acting as bridge between government and public and said that department should modernize its all units to cater to the requirements of present age print and electronic media.
The Director Information gave resume of the working and personnel of the department manning various units. He underlined the need for strengthening the department at all levels and said that re-organization and restructuring of the department was must to develop it in consonance with present day media profile.
Joint Director Information Mr. Khursheed Ahmad Geelani emphasized the need on filling up of the vacant posts to relieve the burden on the existing staff in various districts. He said modernization and infrastructural development should receive priority attention.
The Deputy Director Information Press and Public Relations, Mr. Fida Ali presented a summary of the comprehensive working of all the important wings of the department including press and public relations, audio visual unit, publication division, field publicity and cultural units, research and reference section, monitoring and screening unit, distribution and advertisement wings and various bateaux working outside the state. He also gave resume of the measures the department has initiated for strengthening and restructuring of the department.
