Militants present there opened fire on the search party and tried to break the cordon, the fire was retaliated triggering a gun battle,” the sources added. In the gun battle two militants were shot down whose identity was confirmed as one Jan Mohammad code Abu Bilal R|O Kunthal Thathri of Doda Distt.and the other militant was identified as Abu Shakeel Afghani a resident of Afghanistan. Both of them belonged to Lashker-E-Toiba militant organization. One SLR with one magazine, one pistol with two magazines .one wireless set and one pouch was recovered from the encounter site. According to reports a group of 30 militants has sneaked to this side of the border recently and are hiding in Blesa- Gandoh and Warwaan-Dachan area in Doda distt.. Among them majority of militants belong to Jaish-E-Mohammad and Lashkar-E-Toiba militant organizations. Official sources said here today that in Doda,Kishtwar,Bhaderwah and some pockets of Udhampur,Poonch and Rajouri the field commanders of Lashkar-i-Toiba have started recruiting literate boys.Atleast those boys were being recruited in the Lashkar cadre who have passed either Matriculation or 10 plus two examination. The sources said that the idea behind recruiting literate boys was that they could handle the weapons and explosives and use cell phones and wireless sets far better than the illiterate boys. The Lashkar commanders have also realized that in case the fresh recruits were to be imparted arms training across the border the literate ones could understand the language used in Pakistan or occupied Kashmir and they could converse with their trainers. Another change ,sources said, was the field commanders have preferred to impart arms training in local camps in Doda district.Sources said that during the last one year the number of foreign mercenaries, most of them associated with Lashkar-i-Toiba,had swelled in Doda, Poonch and Rajouri districts. The sources said a year ago six to seven foreign mercenaries had been identified in Doda district and their number has gone upto over 60.About unidentified mercenaries the police and security sleuths have been on the job of making a preliminary survey but one thing is there that the number of them has gone up.The Lashkar leadership in the Jammu region plan to go in for major recruitment drive so that its rival Hizbul Mujahideen was not able to rope in local boys whose involvement in the ongoing activists was important because the most local Militants of HM wanted to surrender.Security Forces in the district have been having special meetings with the parents of local militants so that they can motivate them to surrender and leave this gun.
