| Infiltration bid foiled, two jawans sustained injuries | | | Jammu Aug 7-
Two jawans sustained injuries when infiltrators trying to cross the border from across resorted to firing on a patrol party in Salotri post and Sabzia in Poonch sector today.
A large number of militants are waiting for an opportunate time to cross this side preferably before August 15 to intensify subversive activities in the state and create disturbances on the eve of Independence Day and other ensuing religious functions.
The sources said that a group of five infiltrators reportedly hiding in Salotri, Balakot and Kerni border points made an abortive attempt to cross the border and resorted to indiscriminate firing on the jawans patrolling the border points resulting injuries to two BSF jawans . One of the injured, the sources said, has been identified as Naresh Kumar of 49 BSF.
However after retaliation from the alert jawans, the infiltrators were pushed back into their territory.
It is worthwhile to mention that Early Times in its August 7 issue had hinted possibility of infiltrators sneaking the border following directions from their mentors. To devise strategy to ensure safe crossing of the ultras to this side of the border, LeT district commander Abu Katal had convened a meeting of its cadres somewhere in Mendhar area yesterday. Today’s infiltration attempt is considered prelude to the decisions taken at the meeting.
Following today’s incident, an alert has been sound and security further beefed up in the border belts to thwart any attempt by the infiltrators to cross this side of the border.
