Retired ASI held for smuggling Army grass

Jammu | Aug 8: Batote police today arrested a retired Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and a driver of truck when they both were busy in unloading the army supply for selling in open market. They have been identified as retired ASI Gulam Qadir son of Gulam Mohd resident of Ward No 5, Batote and truck driver namely Nirmal Singh son of Hakam Singh resident of Digiana. Police also seized a truck bearing number JK02D/3985.

According to reports, police got information that some persons are illegally unloading grass which is for army supply from Jammu to Srinagar. After getting information, a police party headed by SHO Batote Sat Pal Modi rushed to the spot and arrested two persons red-handed while unloading the truck. Police has registered a case in this regard and also inform the senior officers of Army. During interrogation they confessed that they are doing this work from last many years.
