| EU delegation in Valley, meets Peerzada | | | Srinagar Aug 10: Mr. Etienne Claeye Minister Counsellor, Head of European Union Delegation of European Commission to India, Bhutan and Nepal and the representative of "Save the Children" a UK based NGO called on the Minister for Education Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed here today.
The Mission expressed its readiness to participate in the quality improvement of education in the state and indicated that the Union through "Save the Children" would like to continue its operation in Jammu and Kashmir for capacity building of the teaching fraternity as also the sensitization of the education village level committees in the state of J&K.
The Minister welcomed the delegation and expressed the intention that the state government heartily welcomes any move from the European Union Mission as would help the state in improving the quality of education.
The Minister expressed gratitude to the "Save the Children" organization for the commendable job they did in the post-earthquake scenario particularly in the Poonch district. It was thought imperative that the Mission and "Save the Children" shall formulate a clear road map in consultation with the functionaries of the education department for implementation of the programme with an inbuilt mechanism for monitoring and impact assessment.
The Mission is scheduled to have an interaction session with the stakeholders later in the day in which the senior functionaries of the education department have been asked to participate.
