| Sheep extension centre inaugurated at Sankoo | | |

Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Haji Asgar Ali Karbalaie today inaugurated a newly constructed Sheep Extension Centre at Sankoo .Constructed at a cost of Rs..4.50 lakhs, the centre has been set up under technology mission.
Addressing the gathering, CEC called for massive efforts to bring genetic improvement of existing local breeds by cross breeding with exotic germ plasma to double the production of wool and milk in the district and at the same time make the sector employment oriented.
Emphasizing the dire need to bring in more efficiency in the working, the CEC asked the officers of Sheep Husbandry department to ensure that the benefits of various projects reach to the deserving people especially those residing in blocks like Taisuru, Sankoo and GM Pore-Trespone as these areas have great potential for production of milk. He suggested for establishment of milk diary of their own for which all assistance would be provided to the entrepreneurs.
Executive Councilors Haji Mohd Ishaq, Kacho Gulzar Hussain and MLA, Zanskar Ghulam Raza, present at the function also spoke on the occasion.
Posters highlighting various diseases from which the sheep and goats suffering frequently and its preventive measures were distributed among the breeders. Besides, sheep breeder's flock registration cards werealso distributed on the spot. The objective for issuing these cards is to identify the different diseases and to check the numbers of livestock existing with the breeders.
Among others who attended the function includes executive councilor Nasir Hussain Munshi, Chief Animal Husbandry officer, Kargil ACD, Kargil Block officers Sankoo, besides large numbers of people.
