Huge NABARD funding for Samba

Samba, Aug 10: District Development Commissioner Samba, Mr B.S Jamwal took stock of progress on several NABARD funded ongoing projects being executed under PWD, PHE, Education and Rural Development at a meeting with the concerned officers.

Jamwal was informed that under PWD, work on 4 road projects is in full swing in the district. The projects included upgradation of link road Papad Brahmna including bridge worth Rs 2.42 crore, link road from Channi-Swankha to Nandpur via Balotra Chak worth Rs 1.15 crore and Samba-Sumb-Goran road worth Rs 81 lakh. He was further apprised that the bridge will be completed this year.

Under PHE sector, the concerned authorities informed the DDC that presently there are five water supply schemes being executed in the district. They told the meeting that Sarla-Beli WSS worth Rs 47 lakh and Thanwal WSS worth Rs 60 lakh will be completed this year while Gadwall WSS worth Rs. 86 lakh and improvement cum extension of village Amwal under WSS Sangwali worth Rs. 40 lakh and Udh- Mandi improvement and extension WSS worth Rs. 36 lakh will be completed next year.

Likewise, 8 additional classrooms are being constructed under NABARD in primary schools of Vijaypur, Parmandal and Samba. The DDC asked the executing agencies to ensure completion of this construction work during current financial year.

Jamwal asked the executing agencies to put in strenuous efforts to complete all these developmental projects within stipulated time frame besides ensuring qualitative and quantitative improvement in their performance.

Meanwhile, the DDC expressed displeasure over low pace of expenditure on certain ongoing works inspite of 50% release of funds well in advance under other district plan schemes.

Chief Planning Officer Samba, H.H Dutt Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Education Officer, Executive Engineers PWD, PHE, Rural Development and other senior officers attended the meeting.
