| Army reaches villages with medical aid | | | Early Times Reporter Naushera 10 Aug 07. Under various schemes of OP SADBHAVANA, the Army has contributed immensely in bringing up the border villages of Jammu & Kashmir. To maintain the same initiative, today 16 SIKH LI organised a Medical Camp at Middle School of Sher Village in Nowshera. The unit following the traditions of " Good Work for the People" once again came forward to help the needy in the three neglected villages ahead of the LC fence namely Sher, Namb and Karhali of Nowshera Tehsil.
During regular interaction with the Sarpanch and other elderly people of the villages in the past under the Medical Scheme Khidmat-e-Khalaq launched by Dah Division various problems being faced by these villagers came into notice. Out of them the major problems were of the medical assistance to the villagers and the development of the that area, hence Medical Camp was planned by the unit for these villages. The Medical Camp was inaugurated by OFFG CO 16 SIKH LI. The Army doctors conducted medical check up of the villagers from different walks of life and distributed medicines to the needy. An Army veterinary doctor also conducted veterinary check up of the cattle and animals of these villages.
Gifts were distributed to the newly borne child who was delivered in the middle of the night while the lady was being evacuated to Civil Hospital Nowshera on request of the locals.
The villagers commended the effort of 16 SIKH LI who have provided water, medical facilities and assistance in all possible means to them. The ex-servicemen of the villages expressed their gratitude to the battalion for taking efforts in overall development of these three villages. This commendable effort by the unit will further enhance the image of Indian Army in the local population to help the Army in all its endowers to fight insurgency in the valley.
