| Militants kill 2 villagers for recruiting children in army | | | Jammu, August 12 : Unidentified gunmen, suspected to be the militants, struck in a remote village of Poonch district, late on Friday night, and shot dead two villagers merely on the ground that they were the fathers of two army aspirants. Police said that a group of militants descended from a hill lock and entered into village Kulali near Bufliaz of Poonch, late last night. The militants, reportedly four in number, were carrying sophisticated weapons, they added. Sources told News Agency of Kashmir that militants, suspected to be of Lashkar-e-Toiba, barged into the house of Muhammad Bashir and Muhammad Sadiq at around 11.30 Pm and dragged the two family heads out of their homes. Both of them were later shot dead in presence of their family members, added the sources. Police claimed that before fleeing from the village militants left a letter which said that the duo was shot dead as they were forcing their children to join Indian army. The latter, reports added, also warned other residents of same consequences, if they tried to recruit their children in the army. According to police the written note which was recovered from one of the bodies reads, ‘This is a punishment for those defying us. We are here, it should not be forgotten.’ It was learnt that Bashir’s and Sadiq’s sons were recently selected by the army during one of its recruitment rally that held at Poonch. Police has registered a case and a manhunt was on to nab the militants responsible for the killings. |
