The delay in conducting the examination of final year students of Institute of Music and Fine Arts by the University of Jammu has blackened the chances of aspiring students seeking admission for higher studies in other parts of the country.
The University which has been awarded ISO certificate is playing with the career of the budding students aspiring to go for further students by delaying the examinations that were due some time in March, April. Despite lapse of nearly five months there is little possibility of holding the examination so soon.
The sources said that the delaying in holding the examination for the final year and second year has adversely affected the academic calendar of the Institute thus jeopardizing the interests of the students.
A final year student of Institute of Music and Fine Arts, who was aspiring to get admission in MA Dramatics in Punjab University, Chandigarh has blamed University of Jammu for spoiling his one precious year by not conducting the examination on time.‘ I don’t think that I can do MA in next year also as time never remains the same’, he lamented. Another final year Music student said that ‘she wanted to go for MA in Music this year but all her hopes dashed to ground following delaying in conducting the final year results and exclaimed that her desire seems a distinct deem. She cursed the University authorities for their failure in conducting timely examinations thus deliberately putting a seal on the future of the budding students. University of Jammu which has got ISO 9001-2000 award for better quality of International standard but it has failed to provide that quality to Institute of Music and Fine Arts students which also fall under University of Jammu. This clearly shows that University is not worried about the future of IMFA students and doing discrimination with them.
Students of IMFA said that ‘it does not matter now as to when the University will conduct our examination because we could not get admission in next classes this year’. This is not the first time that University has failed to take exams of Music and Fine Arts timely, it happens every year but University did not change its style of functioning, the students allege
