CAPD to venture into retailing

Jammu, Aug 12: Jammu and Kashmir government plans to allow selling of more items of daily use through fair price shops to provide a livelihood to educated youth and cover the areas devoid of public distribution system.

Government is thinking of bringing more items of daily use for sale through fair price shops to provide more commodities to customers and ensure dignified livelihood to the educated unemployed youth, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Minister Taj Mohiuddin said.

He said the matter of distribution of cooking gas through fair price shops has already been taken up with the Centre. As soon as they approve the proposal, dealers would be entitled for distribution of LPG to the customers at their doorstep.

Taj said 2000 private retail outlets under the control of CAPD have been established in the state to cover the areas which were devoid of public distribution system.
