Petitioner alleges harassment by police
HC issues Notice SSP Ramban to complete enquiry

JAMMU, AUGUST-13- In a case of alleged harassment by the police to petitioner who played a vital role in elimination of Divisional Commander of Harkat-Ul-Jehad, a petition was filed in the State High Court.
Justice Nirmal Singh of Jammu & Kashmir High Court Jammu wing after considering the facts and the arguments of the counsel for the petitioner issued notice to Financial Commissioner Home, DGP J&K, SSP Doda and SHO Gandoh Farooq Ahmed and also directed SSP Ramban, who is conducting the enquiry into the matter, shall complete the same expeditiously and submit his report to the Director General of Police.
These notices and directions were issued in a petition filed by Haji Umar Din Naik in which Senior Advocate MA Goni appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner has made a complaint against SHO Gandoh who is harassing the petitioner. It is stated that petitioner and his associates were given a reward of Rs 15000 as they had played a vital role in elimination of Divisional Commander of Harkat-ul-Jehad namely Mohd Saif s/o Noor Hussain. It is stated that after the elimination of said militant the SHO arrested one Nazir Ahmed Khan s/o Wali Mohd Khan and made efforts to get his statement recorded so that the same statement is conveyed to the militants that the said commander of the said organization was killed at the instance of the petitioner. It is stated that the rewarded amount of Rs 15000 which was paid to the petitioner and his associates was paid to the SHO Gandoh and thereafter he released Nazir Ahmed. It is stated that Nazir Ahmed had also filed a petition in this Court seeking a direction to hold the enquiry into the matter. It is further stated that said SHO has started approaching the petitioner that he and his associates' workers should not proceed against the militants in any manner.
Justice Nirmal Singh after hearing the Sr. Adv MA Goni directed the SSP Ramban that he shall complete the enquiry expeditiously.
