| 17 new bridges under execution in Ladakh | | | Early Times Reporter Ladakh Aug 13 The work on 261 on-going schemes, 41 new schemes of roads and buildings including 17 bridges, at an estimated project cost of Rs 94.66 crore is apace in cold desert region of Ladakh. This was disclosed by the Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Tsering Dorje in a meeting with R&B Minister Gulchain Singh Charak, who is currently on a tour of Leh district. Deputy Commissioner, Leh Dr. M.K Bhandri, Chief Engineer PWD Kashmir Nazir Ahmed, Superintending Engineer Leh Bimal Tiku and Executive Engineers of different PWD Wings were also present at the meeting. The meeting was told that 11km of road was black topped during last year besides 16km road mettalled, 18km of road was shingled and 50.54 kms fair weather roads were created in Leh District. The meeting was further said that 23 project have been sanctioned under NABARD assistance at an estimated cost of Rs.42.10 crores. Under the scheme 254 kms of road length is being upgraded and constructed. Rupees12 crore has been approved for R&B sector in the district during current fiscal.. The Minister and the CEC exchanged views for accelerating the pace of progress on the roads, bridges and buildings in the district considering the limited working season. Minister also directed the Engineers to show quality work by using best technical know-how and quality materials.
