| Various Educational Institutions observe I-Day | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Aug 16 Various Social organizations, Educational Institutes and Political Parties celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervor and zeal in Jammu Division. To pay the homage and Tribute to the motherland, the students of Delhi Public School celebrated the I-day in the premises of School. Principal D. Joseph hoisted the national flag on the occasion. Teachers showed their love for the motherland by presenting patriotic songs, dance and Instrumental music. May Fair Hr. Sec. School, also celebrated I-day. On this occasion patron Vijay Basur presided over the function. Students of the school presented a colorful programme followed by patriotic song and a fency dress competition. Management of JP World School also celebrated 60th Independence Day in the school premises. After flag hoisting, there was colorful culture programme presented by the students of different classes. Principal of the school extended her greetings and best wishes and also said that this is an occasion to pay collective homage to all those who sacrificed their lives to achieve our independence. Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary school also celebrated Independence day at school premises. The celebrations started with flag hoisting and National Anthem in school ground which was decorated like a bride. Principal congratulated student and staff on this great and auspicious day. GLS Public School and its ETT course students too celebrated the 60th Independence Day of India with great enthusiasm. Deepali Sharma, Principal of the school unfurled the national flag and took the salute of the march past. The students of the school performed different cultural items including patriotic songs and dance. SD Tara Puri Public School too celebrated the I -day with fervor. Patriotic songs were sung, play related to the sacrifices of freedom fighters was displayed. Principal Neeru on this occasion inspired the students to imbibe qualities of great freedom fighters. Students and Management of the Alexandra Memorial School also observed the 60th Independence Day of the Nation in the school premises. Prof. BL Kaul eminent, Educationist, writer and philosopher was the chief guest on the occasion. Principal Esther hoisted the national flag and on this festive occasion, the Tiny Tots of Pre-primary classes also presented a dance in their own innocent way. Govt. Boys Middle School also celebrated the function. Chairman Village level Education Committee, Madan Lal Sharma performed the ceremony of flag hosting. The function was followed by the cultural item by the children of the school. Lawrence Public School also celebrated the day in the school premises. The Managing director of the school Retd. Major Joshi was the chief guest on the occasion. The principal of the school Shakuntla Joshi inspired the students to follow the marks of freedom fighters whom laid down their lives for the sake of the nation. The students on this occasion also presented patriotic songs and various cultural items. 6oth Independence Day of India was also celebrated at the University of Jammu with great patriotic fervor and gaiety. BPS Sehgal, Dean Academic Affairs was the chief guest on the occasion while Prof. G. S. Sambhayal was the guest of honor on the occasion. SR Dubey, security officer of the university presented the guard of honor. Others who presented on the occasion included NR Sharma, JK Sharma, JK Sharma and Keshav Sharma.
