City clean-up ordered for Shobha yatra

Jammu, Aug 16: The arrangements for smooth conduct of Shoba Ytara on auspicious Janamashtimi were finalized on Thursday at a meeting with District Development Commissioner Jammu, Mr Hirdesh Kumar Singh in the chair.
Identifying the route for the Shoba yatra to be held on September 3, the meeting decided that the Yatra would commence from Ragunath Mandir and pass through Residency road, Shahidi Chowk , Rajainder Bazar, Purani Mandi Kanak Mandi , Chowk Choubutra via Link Road and reach Panjthirthi . The Yatra would retreat from Panjthirithi via Old Secretariat Mubarak Mandi , Pacca Danga , Moti Bazar, Purani Mandi ,city Chowk and conclude again at Ragunath temple.
District Development Commissioner asked the traffic authorities to make their traffic management schedule in advance to avoid any mess on the Yatra day. He said that no traffic would be allowed on the routes where from the yatra is scheduled to pass.
Jammu Municipality was asked to make extra efforts to maintain cleanliness in the city by launching a drive right from September 1.
The DDC also called for providing uninterrupted power supply on September 3 and 4 for the convenience of the public. The Power Development Department was also asked to set the height of the distribution wires to avoid obstruction to the Jankhi’s to be taken out at the day of Yatra.
Health, PHE and Fire Services were also asked to put in place adequate arrangements concerned to their departments on the Yatra day.
Among others who attended the meeting included Joint Director Information, Jammu Mr. S. K. Sharma, ADC, Mr. Himat Sharma, SSP Traffic Mr. Showkat Wattali, Secretary Dharmarth Trust, Ms. Vijay Gandotra, SPs City and Security and other senior officers of various departments.
