| R&B Minister inspects quake rehab plan in Poonch | | | Poonch, Aug 17: Minister for R&B Gulchain Singh Charak visited Krishi Bhawan, Sheesh Mahal Poonch, Fort Building, Sports Stadium, Animal Husbandry Office where buildings have faced extensive damages due to earthquake on August 8, 2005. He was accompanied with District Development Commissioner Poonch, Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, SE R&B, Xen R&B and all concerned officers of the district administration. Directions were passed to SE R&B for preparation of the estimates for restoration of the damaged structures. In the evening a number of deputations from tehsil Surankote, Mendhar and Poonch called upon the Minister. Orders for redressal of grievances were accorded to the concerned officers.
He directed the officers of the department to work with missionary zeal and look after the roads of the district. The Minister also visited Radhey Shyam Temple which has faced extensive damage due to earthquake. He also paid obeisance to the Dashnami Akhara holy shrine which is revered equally by all the communities. He reviewed the yatra arrangements and thereafter proceeded to village Ajote, Gulpur, Khari Dharamshal to take a spot assessment of the area which borne the burnt of the earthquake. From Khari Dharamshal he proceeded to village Kanouyian where due to recent flash flood, the water entered the residential houses and school buildings. He passed directions for immediate execution of flood protection works. Thereafter he visited village Mangnar where extensive damage ha been caused to school building, houses and agriculture land. He asked the DDC Poonch, SE, R&B and SE, Hydraulic Poonch, AC (D), Poonch to take up the protection work in the shortest possible time. from there he proceeded to Chhotey Shah Ziarat Shrarief Mendhar and after paying obeisance passed orders for construction of toilets within the complex of Ziarat Sharief.
The Minister also reviewed arrangements of Sh Budha Amar Nath yatra at Mandi which is to commence from today. He addressed the Sarab Dharam Committee at Mandi. The officers bearers of the said yatra committee assured for wholehearted participation of the majority community in giving exemplary reception to the yatris who are expected to visit holy shrine from within and outside the state. They assured the Minister that the universal brotherhood and communal harmony for which tehsil Mandi of district Poonch is renowned shall be displayed by good will gestures and a rousing reception shall be given to the yatris.
