| Healthcare camp in Udhampur village | | | Udhampur, Aug 17: Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma today inaugurated Health Mela at village Thial.
General Secretary, Pradesh Congress Committee Mr.Sukhdev Singh, Mr. Brij Mohan Sharma, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Pathania and other senior officers of Health Department also accompanied the Minister.
Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Mr. O.P.Kalandaria and Director Health Services, Jammu Dr. Jasbir Singh were the guests of honour.
About three thousand patients in different specialties were examined and provided free medicines.
This "Health Mela" is organized every year in the memory of Late Shri Durga Dass Sharma, noted and well known Social Worker of this area, by his family members who are also the trustees of Shri Durga Dass Memorial Trust. Trustees includes Smt. Mansha Sharma Patron, sons of Sh. Durga Dass Sharma namely Sh. Bishan Dass Sharma Chairman, Er. R.C. Sharma, Secretary/ CEO, KVIB, J&K, Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Medical Superintendent, SMGS Hospital, Dr. Ashok Sharma, Lecturer, Ophthalmology Department, Govt. Medical College Jammu and Er. Anil Sharma, NRI.
Besides the Incharge Principal of Boys High School, Thial, Mr. Anil Kumar, Mr. Vinod Kumar and other teachers, students and the volunteers including the members of the Majalta Yuva Kranti Manch, took active part in organizing this mega event. IEC activities including banners / posters and educational material were provided by the Directorate of Health Services, Jammu.
Sharma appreciated the efforts of Society and agreed to provide Rs. 50000/- to enhance the activities of the Society. He appreciated the Organizers for this great event and assured that the problems of the village like provision of funds for construction of new Primary Health Centre building, provision of driver for ambulance and the staff for the newly created Higher Secondary School will be taken care immediately and he issued the directions in this regard to the District Development Commissioner, Udhampur who was also present on the occasion.
District Development Commissioner, Udhampur and Director Health Services speaking on the occasion appreciated the efforts of the Society for organizing such mega events for the welfare of the people and hope that such activities will be continued in future also.
Chief Medical Officer, Udhampur and Block Medical Officer Majalta were also present on the occasion.
