| Prize distribution function held at SMGS hospital | | | JAMMU, AUGUST 12
Prize distribution function was organized at GMGS Hospital today. Principal and Dean, Government Medical College Jammu, Dr (Mrs) Mumtaz Goni was the chief guest.
Director Health Services Dr. Jasbir Singh, Principal Indira Gandhi Dental College, Dr. M. R.Sharma and Director RCH Jammu Dr. Rakesh Khajuria were also present on the occasion.
The judges appointed by the Principal evaluated hospital services after a competition was organized in the hospital which lasted for more than 45 days. The judges included Mrs. Narinder Kour, Dr. T. R. Raina, Dr. Dinesh Luthra, Dr. Vipan Gupta, Mr. Mahesh Gupta and Mr. Anil Padha alongwith hospital administration visited the hospital on various occasions and assessed the services as per the parameters which were devise scientifically for each category. The 45 day long activities started in the SMGS hospital with the release of documentary film of Biomedical Waste Management, lectures on the management topics, initiation of patient satisfaction survey in wards/ OPDs and other patient care areas to evaluate cleanliness, treatment, quality of care, attitude of doctors, nurses, paramedics and other staff members.
The Principal presented awards to Mr. Surinder Singh Salathia for most punctual employee, well dressed employees Dr. Ashok Gupta HOD Paediatics, Dr. Shashi Gupta, Professor, Gynaecology, Smt. Surinder Kour, Staff Nurse, Mr. Chaman Lal Koul, Sr. Lab. Technician, Mr. Ranjeet Singh, Anaesthesia Technician, Nursing Orderly Mr. Mohinder and Sanitary Worker Mr. Khariat Mohd. The best maintained Paediatrics Ward No. 12, ENT ward No. 11, Gynae Ward No. 7, Obst ward No. 1 and 2 and best maintained OT ward were also presented awards.
Special award of excellence was given to Labour room for maintaining it in excellent manner throughout the year and Mrs. Sharista Jamwal, Incharge Staff Nurse alongwith other members were awarded for the same. The driver of best-maintained ambulance and some other special awards were given to the employees.
The Medical Superintendent SMGS Hospital Dr. Yashpal Sharma in his welcome and introductory note said that this programme has got excellent response from the employees and is one of the best example of work culture drive in any institution. He said that during the 45 days of competition the employees have worked day and night. They have painted and white washed the wards with their own hand and decorated their areas after spending money from their pockets, just to listen few words of appreciation from the public. Their motivation is an example for all others to follow in government sector, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. (Mrs) Mumtaz Goni appreciated the efforts of hospital administration and assured that she will try to overcome the shortage of staff in the hospital and appealed the employees of other hospitals to work with same zeal and dedication to improve the patient care services.
The Director Health services also appreciated innovations of the hospital administration in handling the employees and wished them good luck in future.
The judges also spoke on the occasion and shared their views with the gathering of how the things changed, the motivation level of employees was exemplary and services have improved tremendously.
The programme was sponsored by Mr. Jugal Kishore, M/S Jackson Laboratories, Amritsar and Mr. R. C. Nargotra, M/S Alpha Disinfectants also attended the function. They were also felicitated by the hospital authorities for their contribution in the programme.
