Information Deptt organises symposium at

To create awareness among the budding generation regarding the dreaded diseases, social evils and current topics and to encourage them for participating in related functions so as to boost their morale, the Department of Information Jammu organized a symposium at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Mubarak Mandi here this morning
Speaking on the occasion, the participants expressed their views on the topic- AIDS Awareness. They emphasized for adopting preventive measures for healthy life and better future as there is no vaccine for the dreaded disease but only prevention is the cure. They also stressed for imparting sex education at right time that could help a lot in combating the disease as correct information is the key to prevention. The students pledged to fight AIDS and fulfill the promise to weed it out from the state.
Director School Education, Mr D K Vaid who was the Chief Guest on the occasion apprised the students about the affects of AIDS and the need to control it now. He thanked the Department of Information for organizing such functions at school level that would not only educate the young minds to choose between the right and wrong but also provide a platform for their inner feeling. Students feel encouraged as it builds up confidence in them to speak out in public, he added.
On the occasion an impressive cultural programme was organised by Cultural Wing of Information Department wherein the artists performed on the topic thus making it more entertaining and scintillating. The students of the school also presented a group song.
The Principal of the school also presented cheque of Rs. 1,07,700 to Director School Education for the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
Earlier, the Director inaugurated the Examination Hall, constructed by PWD department out of school improvement fund in the school.
The function was organised in collaboration with the school management. Awards were organised by the Information department for the best-adjudged speakers. The Director Education Mr D. K. Vaid, Chief Education Officer, Jammu Mr. H. R. Dubey, Deputy Director Information Department Mr M R Sangra and Principal Mrs Shashi Jamwal presented awards to the students. Miss Ruchi Sharma of Class 12th was adjudged first, Miss Richa Gupta of Class 12th stood second while Miss Silk Sharma of Class 11th bagged third prize besides consolation prizes were also given to other participants.
