| Madan Lal holds consultative meeting of regional FCI. | | | Jammu August 12: After being constituted, the consultative committee of Food Corporation of India (J and K region) convened its first meeting under the chairmanship of M.P. Madan Lal Sharma here today. During the meeting, the general manager of FCI and member secretary of RCC (Regional Consultative Committee) about the composition of RCC and it’s functional areas like procurement and distribution of food grains, storage of food grains, public distribution system for BPL and APL families and problem areas like transit and storage losses. While addressing the meeting Sharma said that being public representative they are mire closely connected with public at the grass root level and are fully aware about the difficulties being faced by the consumers. He also appreciated the role of FCI in providing food grains to J and K state and advised director CAPD, Vinod Koul to improve the distribution of food grains through fair price shops. He also pointed towards the black marketing of the kerosene oil. “Steps are being taken to arrange a fool proof arrangement for distribution of food grains and kerosene, particularly in Jammu region” said Vinod Koul and added that they have made alternate arrangements of transportation due to which there has been a substantial improvement in the supply of sufficient stocks. “Such meetings should be held regularly in order to solve the problems of FCI and general public” said Sharma and suggested for having a general house meeting with FCI labor and staff to listen to their grievances. He further added that specific problems like pending dues of FCI retired labourers should be cleared as soon as possible. He also stressed upon compassionate appointments with in the department.
