| Promoting women artisans a priority: Minister | | |
Srinagar, Aug 19: Minister for Social Welfare Haji Nissar Ali has said that the Exhibition Cum Sale counters set up by State Women's Development Corporation (SWDC) at different places provide better marketing facilities to the women artisans.
While inaugurating the Exhibition Cum Sale counter at Sonamarg today by SWDC said that under National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation the women artisans and self help groups are being provided financial assistance for setting up their income generating units. He said that there is need of awaring the beneficiaries about various state and centrally sponsored schemes and appealed the women artisans to avail the benefits of these schemes and that of the financial assistance being provided by NBFDC.
On the occasion, Managing Director Jammu and Kashmir Women's Development Corporation Dr. Nahid Soz said that BPL women artisans from all parts of the state are participating in the Exhibition Cum Sale programme at Sonamarg. She said that SWDC is providing financial assistance from Rs. 50,000 to Rs.5 lakhs to such artisans for setting up income generating units.
Later, the Minister inspected Primary Health Centre Sonamarg and took stock of health care facilities there. Various public deputations also called on the Minister during his visit to Sonamarg and apprised him of their problems.
