| Hundreds throng Kathua DC's 'darbar' | | |
Kathua, Aug 19: As per the direction of Chief Minister to take administration at the doorsteps of people to mitigate their grievances and problems, District Development Commissioner Kathua, Mrs Sarita Chouhan convened a meeting of district administration and public in tehsil Billawar of Kathua district.
SE Hydraulic Mr O.P Dubey, Assistant Commissioner (Dev) Mr Sham Bijyal, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Assistant Director, CAPD, Executive Engineers of PHE, PDD, PWD, R&B, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer and other tehsil and block level officers were present on the occasion.
The people from all walks of life without political considerations apprised the district administration about their problems and grievances which included replacement of old piles and damaged electric poles, road connectivity, medical facilities, shortage of staff in government educational institutions, non-functioning of ultrasound machine at Sub District Hospital, Billawar, un-hygienic conditions at SDM Billawar, compensation of land coming under roads and other proposes acquired by the government, compensation/relief to those whose residential houses have been damaged due to recent rains, construction of pathways, repair of defunct water hand pumps and posting of Urdu teachers.
The people expressed their dissatisfaction over the working of PHE and PDD department who have failed to provide the public safe drinking water and uninterrupted power supply in spite of huge expenditures made by the government.
Various deputations also met with DDC and projected their demands. A deputation from village Dadwara demanded construction of road from Bhini bridge to Kathua via Satvain, construction of Mini Hydel Project on river Ujh, construction of road from Phinther to Bhini bridge via Dadwara, to bring village Dheralta, Seri Mooni, Parnalla, Pallan, Safain, Boura, Kathera, Kumri under Ujh project stage-II, construction of check Dam at Nallah Panjal and construction of canal from river Ujh Khuban to Ramkote.
A deputation of Billawar demanded plying of matadors from bus stand to tehsil office, Billawar, upgradation of bus stand, Billawar, repair and renovation of old hospital building and providing more streams in Government Degree College Billawar.
The deputation of Beral village demanded protection from flash floods of river Bhini.
The deputation of Hottar village demanded construction of additional rooms and repairs of existing rooms in government HS Hottar.
A deputation of remote and hilly area Dehota demand Primary School and construction of small bridge over the nallah.
Various other problems were also projected by the people which were also related to absence of employees from their stations, non-functioning of Anganwari centres and regularization of widow/handicapped and old age pension, construction of houses under Indira Awas Yojna and proper case of government constructed buildings.
The DDC listened the public grievances patiently and redressed some of them on the spot by directing the concerned officers.
Regarding other demands, the DDC issued on spot instructions to the concerned officers to take immediate steps to sort out their important issues and mitigate the sufferings of the people on priority basis so that the people could full a sigh of relief. Chauhan exhorted upon the officers to put in their sincere efforts in mitigating the problems of the people.
Regarding shortage of staff in government institutions, the DDC said that the matter will be taken up with concerned authorities.
