| 'Remote areas on Govt's priority chart' | | | Udhampur, Aug 19: Minister of State for Power, Health and Medical Education, Peerzada Mohammad Hussain and Minister of State for R&B, Mohammad Khalil Bandh have reiterated the commitment of coalition government in providing justice to all sections of the society by ensuring equitable development of all the three regions of the state with a focus on according priority to still under developed hilly areas.
Peerzada and Bandh were speaking at huge public rally at Gool during their one-day tour of the area last evening.
Peerzada Mohd Hussain said that after getting people's mandate in 2002 elections the coalition government headed by former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's, the slogans of healing touch and peace process yielded results as the two arch rival neighbours India and Pakistan came closer to hold peace process dialogue, Srinagar-Muzaffarabad roads opened, trade and commerce took new turn, peace and tranquility prevailed in strife torn valley and tourists inflow increased manifold to Kashmir Valley, he asserted.
On developmental front, Peerzada stated that a number of road and power projects were launched, 10,000 Schools opened, over 30 RETs appointed, 22 new Degree Colleges besides Universities opened and upgraded. The health sector to gained momentum as no of Sub Centres were opened infrastructural facilities in hospitals upgraded.
Commenting on reduction of Army from the State, Peerzada said the situation in the Valley is not so bad as it was being projected. Hence the idea mooted by Mufti in reduction of Army and replacement with State Police, CRPF and BSF was a step in the right direction as these forces can to handle the situation properly.
Advising the forces inimical to peace, communal amity and development, the Mr Bandh asked such elements to join the national mainstream so that people of all faiths could lead a peaceful life. He called for giving a united fight against corruption, illiteracy and work shoulder to shoulder in peace and development process for ensuring total restoration of pristine glory of our peace loving state.
Bandh further added that to provide road connectivity to tough terrain and scattered population, seven (7) more roads under PMGSY having 500 population in the area involving an expenditure of Rs.10.63 crore area also being taken up to address their grievances and improve the socio-economic condition.
Regarding setting of a Power Receiving Station at Gool, Peerzada said that Rs.1.70 lakh have been kept at the disposal of DDC Ramban for identification of land and the Receiving Station at Sangaldan was stated to be complete but was lacking funds of Rs.60 lakh for installation of machinery for which the Minister assured to provide from centrally sponsored 'Rajeev Gandhi Viduyat Yojna' scheme shortly. He also asked the CMO to appoint a local Driver on causal basis for SDH Gool.
