Jammu | Aug 19
The former Union Minister and senior leader of the BJP, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta while welcoming the reported induction of modern weaponry to deal with the terrorists by the troops said that mere arms and techniques would not serve till there is change in the basic policies of the rulers who are the main problem for sustaining of militancy.
Commenting upon the reports that laser weapons would be provided to the forces to take upon the ultras, Prof. Gupta observed that it is not much difficult for dealing with the terrorists even with the present weaponry but the real question is that of providing free hand to the forces to take upon the ultras and more than that is the need for cleanse of the ruling junta and that of their administration which is directly and indirectly involved in supporting terrorists and elements having communally diseased mind advocating secessionism in one form or the other.
Prof. Gupta said how the situation can be changed with some new weapons when the presence and the powers of the troops are being questioned by no less than who are on the right and left of the Chief Minister.
The boggy of human rights and reduction of the p4resence of troops have been made an issue for public debate as if the Indian Army is something alien in Jammu and Kashmir, he lamented and further said that no where in the world, not to say in other parts of the country, the presence and deployment of troops is being made an issued of public debate by the country men. The Congress leadership is pampering such elements just to save their coalition in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP leader alleged.
Prof. Gupta strongly pleaded for enforcement of the laws of the land to curb cross border terrorism.
