| JD (S) resents government move to shift Bhaderwah Jail | | | DODA, AUG 20 A deputation of Janta Dal (S) led by Mast Nath Yogi senior party president met SDM Bhadarwah P.K.Pole today to lodge protest against the shifting of the jail from Bhaderwah. During the meeting the deputation expressed its grave concern over the government’s reported move to shift Sub-District Jail Bhadarwah out side the town and conveyed the party’s grave resentment over it. The deputationists said the said jail was constructed by Maharaja Chamba (Himachal Pradesh) during his regime, when Bhadarwah was ruled by the Chamba (Himachal Pradesh) Government. Yogi apprised the SDM that in 1929 the state government converted this Fort into Sub-District Jail. He said if the government is serious to convert the Fort as a monument it should acquire the land for setting up the district jail in the area and warned any move to shift the jail from the town would have serious repercussions. The deputation also handed over a memorandum to the SDM opposing the proposal of the shifting the jail from the present site and urged the Chief Minister to reconsider its decision and not force the people to come to streets. Those who accompanied Yogi included Mehta Ram Ratan Tehsil President, Kotwal Satish Kumar Gen Secretary , Shash Pal , Kotwal Chuni Lal and Hem Raj.
