| Tara Chand chairs business advisory committee meeting | | | Srinagar August 20 (INFO) – Speaker Legislative Assembly Mr. Tara Chand today chaired the business advisory committee meeting to deliberate upon the issues regarding smooth conduct of the proceedings during the current session. The meeting was attended by Minister for Health and Medical Education Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister for Finance, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Tariq Hameed Karra, leaders of opposition Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather, Deputy Speaker Legislative Assembly Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone, Minister of State for Finance, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Prem Sagar Aziz, Minister of State for Health and Power Peer Mohammad Hussain, legislators Mr. Balwant Singh Mankotia, Mr. Ghulam Hussan Khan, Mr. Jugal Kishore, Mr. Ashwani Sharma, Mr. M. Y. Tarigami, Secretary Law Mr. A. H. Kochak, Secretary Legislative Assembly Mr. Mohammad Ramzan and other officers of Assembly Secretariat. The members putforth various suggestions for consideration to make the ongoing session successful and to accommodate the members for raising the issues of public importance. Azad pays tributes to Rajiv Gandhi on 63rd birth anniversary “He stood out prominently among leaders of modern India” Srinagar, August 20- Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has paid rich tributes to Rajiv Gandhi on his 63rd birth anniversary today. In a message, Azad described the late Prime Minister as a visionary who infused scientific temperament in governance and ushered the country into an era of modern technology. He said Rajiv Gandhi’s contribution in strengthening panchayati raj in the country coupled with women empowerment made him stand out prominently among the leaders of modern India. Computerization and development of science and technology were his other achievements that would be long remembered. The Chief Minister said Rajiv Gandhi was concerned about the downtrodden sections of the society and worked hard for their uplift. He said development of minorities was also in focus during his government. Recalling his close association with Mr. Gandhi as his cabinet colleague and party functionary, Azad said his conception about the progress of India was very clear as he wanted to take the country to the heights of development. He said his assassination snatched from us a very bright and promising personality and leader of the masses. The Chief Minister stressed on the need to carry forward the mission of Rajiv Gandhi and asked people to emulate him and make India scientifically and technologically an advanced country.
