| Interaction with orchardists held | | | JAMMU, AUGUST 20 )- Department of Horticulture Jammu organized an interaction programme of 30 orchardists of Mendhar constituency of Poonch district who left for seven days study tour to Kashmir Valley today at Horticulture Complex, Talab Tillo here. The study tour is a part of Technology Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture in Jammu division. While interacting with the orchardists, Director Horticulture Jammu Mr. M. S. Qasba emphasized the importance of such study tours and impressed upon the farmers to take maximum benefit from this tour. He also advised them to have extensive interaction with the scientists and progressive fruit growers of Kashmir division for adoption of latest technology. The study tour will help them to adopt latest scientific methods in their orchards and ultimately ensure in boosting the fruit production in the region. Earlier, the tour was flagged off by MLA Mendhar Mr. Javed Ahmed Rana at Mendhar yesterday. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA advised the orchardists to derive maximum benefits from the study tour and urged the department to organize such type of study tours more frequently in future also so that farmers/ orchardists of far-flung areas of Poonch district are benefited. During the tour the orchardists shall visit Advanced Centre for Horticulture Development, Govindpora- Ramban, Advanced Centre for Horticulture Development, Zainpora- Shopian, Kashmir, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences and Technology, Shalimar Kashmir besides other areas of horticulture importance in Kashmir valley. They will be given an opportunity to interact with progressive fruit growers in Kashmir division.
