| Under ARWSP 35 schemes in Poonch, Rajouri districts: Dilawar | | |
Srinagar, August 20 Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Mr. Mohammad Dilawar Mir informed the Legislative Council today that Irrigation sector is being given due consideration as a priority sector. He said that all the irrigation and flood control projects are prepared keeping in view optimum utilization and sustainability of these. He said that cost benefit ratio and techno-economic feasibility is also taking care of. The Minister was replying to a question by Mr. Nizam-ud-Din Bhat regarding management and utilization of water resources and irrigation and flood control projects. In reply to a supplementary by Mr. M. Y. Taing, the Minister assured that the other issues with regard to harnessing of water resources and their proper utilization are also being paid attention. He said that the Members would be informed about such measures. Mr. Mir said that 35 schemes are going on in Rajouri and Poonch districts under Accelerated Rural Water Supply Programme (ARWSP). Any new scheme under ARWSP for these districts would be submitted to central government for funding after proper survey and feasibility report keeping in view the needs of the area, Mr. Mir said this in reply to another question by Mr. B. A. Naaz.
