| 49 Pesticides manufacturing units coming up in Samba, Udhampur: Zargar | | | Srinagar| Aug Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Mr. Abdul Aziz Zargar today informed the Upper House that the Pesticides manufacturing units are adopting all provision of the Insecticides Act, 1968 and Insecticides rule 1971. He said that these units are being inspected from time to time and their performance in respect of quality is also being monitored. No unit is granted registration either provision or formal unless and until they obtain consent and certificate for operation from the State Pollution Control Board, Mr. Zargar said and added that 21 units have been granted permanent registration by Industries and Commerce department which are in production at present and 49 units, registered provisionally, are expected to come up for production in next two years in Samba and Udhampur districts. He said a high level committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary to ascertain that the upcoming units follow all pre-requisites. The Minister was replying to a question by S. Arvinder Singh. Mr. R. S. Chib also raised supplementary. In an another question by Mr. Bilal Ahmed Khan Lodhi, Mr. Zargar said that appointments made in the Agriculture department during 2005-07 in different categories include 67 in Kashmir and 34 in Jammu divisions under non-gazetted cadre. Similarly in class-IV category 25 appointments have been made in Kashmir and 30 in Jammu divisions under SRO-43. He said that 4 daily wagers have been regularized and 13 casual labours engaged in district Budgam.
