| Civil Defence training course begins | | | Early Times Reporter A Basic Civil Defence training course to be imparted to 97 Civil Defence volunteers at Central Training Institute for Home Guards and Civil Defence in the premises of Auxiliary Police Battalion headquarters was inaugurated by Inspector General of Police Navin Agarwal. Earlier these 97 eligible young civilians hailing from Roop Nagar Sharika Vihar and Channi Himmat Jammu were enrolled as Civil Defence volunteers. On the occasion, Agarwal, said that this Basic CD training is very essential for creation of confidence and satisfaction among the youth. During this training period these youth will be imparted trainings in rescue works, fire fighting and first aid, besides, other CD skills will also be made known to them. Agarwal also distributed certificates along with training allowances among the 18 Civil Defence Wardens. During the function Agarwal also issued picture identity cards in favour of 48 Civil Defence Wardens who have been enrolled in the organization and whose character and antecedents verifications were got cleared from the local police authorities. Manjit Kour, Dy. Controller Civil Defence Jammu who is also the organizer of this training course stressed that more and more eligible civilians must be motivated to join Civil Defence organization voluntarily in order to serve the general public in the hour of any eventuality. Among other present on the occasion was Dr. K. Saini, T. Phonsog, IPS Commandant Aux. Police IInd Bn. Jammu, S.M. Khatotra, SSP, Divisional Commandant Home Guards Jammu., T.R. Rana, K.K. Sharma, P.D. Sharma, Dy. SSP, besides a large number of Sr. Civil Defence Warden of Jammu province, Bansi Lal Gupta, Divisional warden, Jugal Mahajan, Jag Raj Sharma and Garu Gupta were also present on the occasion
