| Condolence meet held | | | Jammu | aug 21 Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages has expressed deep shock and concern over the sad demise of noted Urdu Novelist, Short Story Writer and Gyan Peeth awardee Qurat-Ul-Ain Hyder who breathed her last after short illness on August, 2007. In this connection, a condolence meeting was held a Academy Complex, Jammu which was Chaired by Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi, Secretary, Academy. Besides, Academy Staff prominent writers from various languages participated in the meeting which include Dr. Ayaz Rasool Nazki and Dr. Liyaqat Jaffri. The participants at the meeting, on the occasion remembered great contribution of Qurat-Ul Air Hyder, not only in Urdu but in other languages as well. Her pioneering works include” Aag ka Dariya” a novel comprising of over 1500 pages, “Aag Ka Dariya”, kare Jehan Draz hair, Chaye Ke Bhagat and many more. She has been a trendsetter in Urdu Novel and Short Story and most of her works have been translated into Hindi, Punjabi, English and other languages. In recognition of her Literary merit, she was awarded Gyan Peet Award. The speakers on the occasion remembered her close association with the literary circles of Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting also expressed deep shock over the sad demise of father of noted Hindi poetess of the soil. Khyma Koul, who was also father in law of noted writer and social activists Agni Shekhar, who left for heavenly abode on August 20 at New Delhi.
Two minutes silence was observed in the meeting and deep sympathy was expressed with the bereaved families.
