| Operation Sadbhavana educational tour flagged off at Mendhar | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu / Aug 21 Under the aegis of Krishna Ghati Brigade, Barasingha Battalion organized the flag off of a seven day education tour to Amritsar, Chandigarh, Beas and Bhakra Nangal for thirty school children and two teachers of the school of village tain, Choi, Chirangari, Mankot and Sogra. The educational trip is the continuation of the army’s concerted efforts under operation Sadbhavana to reach out to the local population in the remote and far flung areas of Jammu and Kashmir. During the course of the tour, the children will get an opportunity to visit historical and religious places like Jallianwala Bagh, Golden Temple, Wagah border and Bhakra Nangal Dam. They will also be taken to important landmarmks and places of recreation such as the rock garden and pinjore garden at Chandigarh as well as the Sukha Lake. The children will also be exposed to city upon their visit to sector-17 in Chandigarh. In order to give and exposure to the students, about the education curriculum followed in rest of the country, an interaction with students at YPS School, Chandigarh, Punjab University and army school, Beas has been organized during the visit. Brigadier Gurdeep Singh, commander Krishna Ghati Brigade, addressed the large gathering and exhorted the enthusiastic school children to make full use of this educational trip to enhance their knowledge, interact with their counterparts studying in the developed aeras and improve their awareness about the latest development in the rest of the country. Brigadier Gurdeep Singh also emphasized that children are the future of the country and this kind of gesture on part of the army, would have a long lasting effect on the impressionable minds of the children and will go a long way in moulding their future. He also urged the school children to join the main stream and to work hand in hand with the rest of the country. Speaking on the occasion master Lakhwinder Singh, of Middle school, Tain said it was my dream to go to a big city like Chandigarh. I had only read about it as being the most will planned city in India and now thanks to the army I will be able to see it. This trip organized by the army will help not only me but my other friends to realize my dream and all of us are grateful to the army for providing us this opportunity. Master Mohammed Shoket, studying in model academy, Sagra commented that Last year I was not included in the educational trip and I was very disappointed. But this year due to the efforts of Colonel YS Ahlawat, Sena Medal, my name is concluded and I am looking forward to visit the Golden Temple at Amritsar. This visit to the holiest shrine would be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me and I consider myself to be lucky to be part of this Trip. Brigadier Gurdeep Singh, commander Krishna Ghati brigade flagged off the education trip from OP HILL stadium, Mendhar in the presence of a large number of school children, parents, Civilian and important dignitaries which included MA Pir, SDM Mendhar, Sandeep Chib, SDPO Mendhar, Ashraf Chauhan, Dy CEO and principals of the schools. This kind of effort by the army is a commendable steps towards national integration, peace and development. It would go a long way in exposing the children of these backward areas to the developments taking place in the country which would result in these children joining the mainstream .
