JKNPP members decry Harsh's suspension
Srinagar, Aug 22:As pandemonium and mayhem dominated the state Assembly proceedings again on Wednesday with a group of NC MLAs and Panthers party members shouting slogans against government, speaker adjourned the house thrice, twice for 15 minutes each and then for the day
Attired in Balck, NC members representing the constituencies of Border District Kupwara and Panther party MLA's were on their feet soon after the house met at 10 am.
While the protesting NC members alleged government of meting out step motherly treatment to Kupwara district, panther party members lambasted it for suspending Harsh Dev Singh.
Protesting and shouting slogans they even stormed in the well, while speaker Tara Chand made several attempts to take up the business by asking minister for Forests Qazi Afzal to reply the question of Mohammad Sayed Akhoon.
However, as noting was audible in the din, minister preferred to resume his seat.
Mayhem continued for twenty minutes during which speaker made repeated attempts to restore the order- however as the members refused to budge he adjourned the house.
Similar situation prevailed after the House met second time at 11 am and then again at 12 noon.
Accusing the government of 'murdering the democracy' by restraining members to speak the truth, JKNPP members Balwant Singh Mankotia, Yashpal Kundal and Faqir Nath demanded immediate revocation of suspension of Harsh Dev.
The NC members Saifullah Mir , kafil-ul-Rehaman and Kesar jameshed Lone on the other hand accused the government of adopting discriminatory attitude towards Kupwara district in the matters of development.
During the protests members from either side were witnessed trading charges on each other. Minister for Finance and Parliamentary Affairs who tried to intervene had to face the wrath of the members as Balwant Singh Mankotia stopped him by pulling away his mike. He also indulged in a verbal duel with the leader of opposition, Abdul Rahim Rather.
Saifullah Mir , kafil-ul-Rehaman and Kesar jameshed Lone of NC and Balwant Singh Mankotia, Yashpal Kundal and Faqir Nath who frequently stormed into the well during the protest were at one time even evicted by the watch and ward staff from the house.
