Mountaineering Association of J&K has selected a 38 member team including 4 officials for participation in the North Zone and Youth Sport Climbing Championship to be held at Gurgaon (Haryana) from 6th to 9th September. The team led by Shivati Koul, a seasoned climber, comprises of 25 boys and 13 girls. Whereas only one climber each has been selected in Junior Boys, Senior Girls, Girls Group-A and B, nine and six climbers have found a place in the Sub Junior Boys and Girls categories respectively. Besides, there are five, six and two climbers in Boys group A and B and Junior Girls categories respectively.
The team has been selected on the basis of performance of climbers in the Jammu and Udhampur Districts and State Sport Climbing Championships and also in the coaching camp conducted by the Association under the supervision of a national coach.
Men team includes : Vijay Partap Singh, Ashutosh Sharma, Juniors: Akshit Mahajan, Group-A; Suraj Singh, Sumit Kumar, Gurpreet Singh, AKshay Kumar, Puneet Sharma, Group-B: Anil Kumar, Ajay Kumar, AMit Kohli, Chetan Sharma, Anuj Padha , Gurvinder Singh, Sub Junior: Jasmeet Singh, Akshay Kumar, Deepak Choudhary, Ashish Kapoor, Lovish Choudhary, Rahul Sharma, Ashwani Kumar, Meneesh and Rajiv Sharma.
Girls team includes: Bhawna Sharma, Juniors: Shivati Koul, Rohini Chib, Group-A: Parvinder Kour, Group-B: Anjali Adhikari, Sub Junior: Harjot Kour, Shivani Raj Kaith, Princy Choudhary, Vinay Preet Kour, Momina Yousaf and Mahima.
Charu Nagar will be officiated as Manager of Girls and Sonam Sidharth will be nominated as Manager of Boys.
Sumit Khajuria will be accompanied as Coach while Dr. Sanjay Bhat will be appointed as Medical Officer.
