| JSM seeks war footing measures to check water scarcity | | |

In a meeting of JSM (P) held here the members expressed their great resentment and anguish on the prevailing water crisis in Jammu City. It is highly deplorable that immediate problem fob water scarcity that arouse because of the damage of intake structure at Sheetli a year back could not be rectified till date and for the last about one year, the people of Jammu city particularly of Jammu West Constituency are facing acute problem of drinking water. It is irony and strange that the Chief Minister of state who claims himself as a man from Jammu region and sensitive to the problems of the people of Jammu region, is ignorant about that the minister incharge has assured restoration of the damage before beginning of the summer, 2007.
The chronic problem of acute shortage of water dates back six decades. The subsequent governments of Jammu and Kashmri State because of their biased attitude and anti Jammu psyche have always ignore the problem and resorted to dilly dally the implementation of projects submitted to the Government by the PHE Department from time to time. The first master plan to tackle the water scarcity submitted in early 70’s . the Project coud be completed after about twenty years when the water problem got further aggravated manifold. The other project taking into the needs of coming 30 years was submitted in 1993, which have not been taken so far, a press release.
JSM (P) said state morcha (Progressive demanded that war footing measures be taken to meet the acute immediate crisis and early steps by taken to take up the future projects taking into account the needs of expanding Jammu city.
