| Discrimination with contractual lecturers of Jammu region VV | | HC directs Commissioner/Secretary GAD to file affidavit | |
JAMMU, AUGUST-22- Justice Nirmal Singh of Jammu & Kashmir High Court Jammu wing in writ petitions filed by the contractual lecturers belonging to Jammu region has directed Commissioner/Secretary GAD to file an affidavit clarifying the position as to how many clear vacancies of lecturers were available on the day when Advocate General made a statement before the full bench of the state High Court appearing on behalf of state respondents and as to how many candidates have been regularized against these vacancies. This needful be done within four weeks, till the interim directions in all these matters shall continue. Justice Nirmal Singh after hearing Advocates RP Sharma, DS Chouhan, J Choudhary and R Afzal appearing for the petitioners and Additional Advocate General BS Salathia appearing for the state respondents observed that the counsel for the petitioners submitted that Advocate General had made a statement before a full bench of this Court at Srinagar wing in SWP No 1309/98 and other connected petitions which came to be decided by this Court vide order June 28, 2001, the state government has decided to allow the petitioners in said petitions working on contractual basis against migrant vacancies to continue till an appropriate scheme for their regularization is formulated. It is further stated that the state Government has passed order regularizing the services of the aforesaid petitioners against state cadre posts. It is stated that discriminatory approach is being adopted by the state so far as the petitioners are concerned who have also being engaged on contractual basis. Upon this Court issued direction to the Commissioner/Secretary GAD to file affidavit. JNF
