Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 18: To review the functioning as well as upgradation of existing traffic signals and installation of intelligent Traffic Management System (TMS), a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner, Mandeep Kour, here today. Vipin Kumar Choudhary, IGP, Traffic, Joint Commissioner (Adm), RS Jamwal Assistant Commissioner (Rev) JMC, Executive Engineer (Electric) JMC and Jatinder Koushiq, CEO, ONNYX, Traffic System, New Delhi was also present in the meeting. A thread bearing discussion was held in meeting which took place in Town Hall, Jammu to discuss installation of intelligent TMS in Jammu city. Presently traffic signals have been installed at 30 intersections in Jammu. It was discussed that the present system needs to be upgraded to accommodate traffic lights for pedestrian also. It was decided in the meeting that the traffic system would be able to control traffic of each arm of the intersection independently besides the traffic signal system would be capable to operate in blinker, auto and manual mode. A central command and control room shall be set up from where the timing and phase of traffic signal would be changed depending on the requirement. The central room will be able to monitor the functioning of traffic lights in real time using advance technology, the meeting further decided. It was also decided that the cantilever poles will be used to encourage lane wise driving and traffic signal would also have pedestrian lights which will help people in crossing the road. In the meeting, a decision was also made to install Red Light Violation Detection (RLVD) at one location on trial basis. People violating the traffic signals would be issued challans. Automatic Number Plate Recognition System (ANPR) would be used to note the number plate of violations. |
